About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide policy, business development, go-to-market, and fundraising support to AHG clients
  • Become an expert in policy and regulatory areas shaping a sustainable future, including building decarbonization, electrified mobility, resiliency, and carbon removal
  • Build relationships with startup founders, VC partners, and corporate leaders
  • Conduct in-depth policy and regulatory research and analysis to inform go-to-market, regulatory, and business development strategies
  • Coordinate with AHG team members to craft detailed written memos and presentations
  • Prepare comments and testimony before state public utility commissions and other federal, state, and municipal regulatory bodies
  • Lead the build-out of internal policy resources to streamline AHG’s work across clients
  • Travel for client work and team retreats as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of experience in climate or energy policy, including work with startups, consulting, and/or government; preference for a diversity of experiences
  • Excellent research, writing, communication, and analytical skills
  • Strong technical knowledge in one or more climate-related segments, such as building decarbonization, transportation electrification, resilience, industrial decarbonization, grid services, or carbon removal
  • Experience navigating state energy regulation, wholesale energy markets, or carbon removal policy landscapes, or desire to build that expertise quickly
  • Ability to develop trusted relationships as an agile networker and advocate
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent context switching
  • Strong desire for ownership and accountability
  • Passion for climate tech and energy
  • Critical and empathetic thinking with an understanding of climate policy and energy justice complexities
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now and in the future
  • Finalists must complete and present a short skills assessment
