Software Systems Engineer, Acquisition Intern

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Apply standard techniques and procedures to carry out prescribed scientific and/or engineering tasks
- Participate with an interdisciplinary team in ongoing research or technical programs with academic collaboration partners
- Participate in engineering studies, performance assessments, and/or market research
- Research challenge problems, test hypotheses, prototype new approaches, and/or prove concepts
- Prepare and present technical information to disseminate findings, guidance, and technical information to a broad audience
- Participate in a software systems and acquisition team supporting space-related customers
- Receive training and mentorship
Requirements
What you’ll need- Enrolled full time and pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or closely related technical discipline
- Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full-time after completion of the internship
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Some experience in developing software systems using modern methodologies, including DevSecOps software development or Agile project management
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Transcripts required for this position
- GPA 3.5 or higher (standout qualification)
- Active security clearance (standout qualification)
- Some experience in federal government acquisition programs, agile development methods, MBSE/digital engineering, software processes/metrics/quality, or software process improvement
- Current certification in one or more relevant technologies, with corresponding experience
- Government or commercial space operations experience
- Familiarity with acquisition policies, space systems, and/or space technologies
- Ability to work full-time for at least 10 weeks outside the university term
- Some travel may be required
