About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide subject matter expertise to program offices and government customers in space architecture design and optimization, space network design, orbital analysis, and space security and defense
- Use in-house, commercial-off-the-shelf, and government-off-the-shelf engineering analysis tools to deliver insights through analytical deep dives, trade studies, and assessments
- Expand department optimization capabilities to support additional mission domains and architectures
- Develop and present technically accurate presentations and reports communicating analysis results and recommended solutions
- Build and maintain relationships with cross-organization partners, government customers, and contractor teammates
- Identify and initiate opportunities to sustain, develop, and grow simulation and analysis capabilities
- Technically mentor junior staff in department capability areas
- Occasionally travel to support customer efforts
- Employ and develop sophisticated simulation tools for space and ground design, optimization, and analysis supporting architecture trade studies, requirements verification, analyses-of-alternatives, and performance modeling
- Apply optimization techniques to support data-driven decisions about portfolio composition, budget planning, and commercial purchasing
- Act as a technical expert for high-impact projects and collaborate with other analysts
Requirements
What you’ll need- B.S. degree in aerospace, astronautical, or mechanical engineering, physics, operations research, mathematics, or a related field of science or engineering
- Four or more years of relevant and progressive professional experience for the Sr. Member of the Technical Staff
- Six or more years of relevant experience for the Engineering Specialist
- Experience with constellation design, orbital mechanics, or mathematics related to satellite access geometry
- Significant history of making effective contributions to a wide range of technical analysis or development projects
- Ability to support multiple programs and/or activities simultaneously and act as a technical point-of-contact
- Ability to lead and mentor small teams in conducting routine analysis and development tasks
- Knowledge of Python, C, C++, MATLAB, or another programming language
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (TS/SCI)
- U.S. citizenship required to obtain a security clearance
- For Engineering Specialist: familiarity with optimization techniques, space network design, orbital mechanics, or mathematics related to satellite access geometry
- For Engineering Specialist: significant history of consistent contribution to multiple substantial technical analytical or development projects through successful fruition
- For Engineering Specialist: strong personal accountability, demonstrated growth mindset, and adaptability to changing customer expectations
