About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Align Aerospace risk management techniques and team efforts during manufacturing and test phases
  • Optimize customer support team engagement in AI&T to enable informed customer decisions
  • Position Aerospace systems engineering and AI&T teams to address gaps in contractor efforts, document recommendations, close actions, and report to the customer
  • Lead non-conformance and major technical issue response teams
  • Direct supporting subject-matter experts in design evaluation, testing, and analyses
  • Consolidate input and provide recommendations for root cause and corrective action efforts
  • Support development and execution through architectural realization, design development, and CONOPs maturation
  • Collaborate with government customers and SETA counterparts on integrated assessments and technical recommendations
  • Generate periodic written reports and presentations for customers and Aerospace management
  • Observe and assess spacecraft assembly, integration, and test activities in the factory
  • Provide in-factory MA/QA assessments, including audits, failure review boards, and non-conformance process compliance
  • Ensure Aerospace works as one team across internal program interfaces for cross-cutting activities
  • Ensure customers understand how best to employ Aerospace resources

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant technical field
  • Six or more years of responsible professional engineering experience
  • Effective systems engineering and communication skills to identify problems, develop solutions, and assess risks
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with at least one spacecraft technical discipline
  • Willingness to support travel, typically 1 week per month; if based in Chantilly, 2 weeks per month of travel
  • Current and active TS/SSBI/SCI security clearance and polygraph, issued by the U.S. government
  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
  • Advanced degree in relevant technical field preferred
  • Prior experience working space vehicle systems engineering for National Security Space customers preferred
  • Prior experience providing direct engineering support, in-factory, to the development of satellites preferred
  • Understanding of and experience working with a matrixed engineering organization preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively, efficiently, and collaboratively with limited supervision
  • Strong customer-oriented attitude with outstanding skills in coordinating exchanges between technical staff and the customer
