About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead tactical and operational leadership in the design, development, implementation, administration, and communication of assigned client benefit plans
  • Make recommendations based on clients' long-term objectives
  • Manage a book of business generating a minimum of $1M in revenue
  • Manage all policy activity and stewardship aspects in the assigned book of business
  • Analyze and report relevant claims data for larger accounts, identify trends, and compare client data with industry benchmarks
  • Ensure client compliance with benefits requirements and advise clients on the impact of the ACA and future government changes
  • Maintain knowledge of government regulations and ensure compliance with FMLA, COBRA, ACA, ERISA, and other applicable laws and regulations
  • Fulfill reporting and compliance requirements
  • Provide training and mentorship to the Client Executive Team
  • Promote vigilance, accountability, collaboration, ethical standards, and client satisfaction
  • Maintain accuracy, timeliness, completion, organization, and attention to detail when interacting with clients, the firm, and insurance company partners
  • Manage large accounts independently
  • Review existing accounts for additional insurance lines and changes throughout the year and at renewal
  • Cultivate relationships with insurance company partners
  • Manage competing priorities and adapt to changing responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities to improve the firm, business segment, and processes
  • Escalate issues and discrepancies to appropriate leadership
  • Complete special projects as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Obtain and maintain state insurance license(s), as required by the State Department of Insurance, to provide risk management consulting or risk transfer solutions as necessary in states where the firm functions
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of insurance and/or benefits related experience, including leading a client management team
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to produce clear and effective communication to audiences
  • Capability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, and Word
  • Ability to learn appropriate insurance company and firm software systems
  • Some travel is required
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, Accounting, Finance, Business, or another related concentration is preferred
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), SPHR, or PHR is preferred
