About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide practical, commercially focused HR advice and guidance to managers and employees
  • Lead complex employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinaries, capability, performance and complex absence cases
  • Support investigations and prepare documentation, letters and meeting materials
  • Escalate high-risk cases to external employment-law advisers when needed
  • Maintain accurate employee relations records and ensure actions are followed through
  • Oversee day-to-day HR processes, including onboarding, offboarding and absence management
  • Prepare and review contracts, letters and other HR documentation
  • Assist with HR reporting and communicate and apply HR policies and procedures consistently
  • Keep up to date with employment legislation and HR best practice
  • Supervise, guide, support, allocate work to and coach the HR Assistant
  • Support internal training and development activities
  • Support HR and workplace compliance, including health and fire safety administration
  • Provide supportive assistance with office supplies, suppliers and general facilities administration
  • Report to the CFO/COO

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Significant experience in a HR Advisor or Senior HR Advisor role, with strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Experience managing a range of employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinaries, capability and absence
  • Confident providing HR advice to managers, with sound judgement on sensitive or confidential matters
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organisation and prioritisation skills
  • Experience supporting or supervising a more junior team member
  • CIPD qualification (nice to have)
  • Experience in a small or standalone HR function working with external employment-law advisers (nice to have)
  • Experience supporting health & safety, office/facilities, or employee training (nice to have)
