About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee day-to-day operation of the Separations and Control Labs located in Starke, FL and Offerman, GA
- Supervise Laboratory Technicians
- Schedule tasks and deploy technicians to achieve objectives cost-effectively
- Monitor calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Ensure adherence to MSHA Safety and Environmental rules and Chemours policies and procedures
- Maintain proficiency in laboratory procedures and underlying principles to train employees and support performance management
- Supervise use of XRF and other analytic equipment and methods, including computerized data handling and reporting
- Troubleshoot assay problems
- Ensure timely turnaround of production sample analysis
- Coordinate, assign, oversee, and conduct routine and non-routine sample analyses, tasks, and special projects
- Review production test data daily for accurate, reliable results
- Monitor laboratory inventory
- Coordinate calibration, maintenance, and repairs of laboratory equipment with service providers
- Coordinate and monitor maintenance work orders
- Maintain housekeeping standards
- Record and submit payroll timekeeping, overtime, vacation, and holiday information
- Cultivate and maintain a respectful team work environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of four years’ experience in laboratory operations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly skilled in the use of standard desktop applications (MS-Office)
- Safety conscious
- Awareness and implementation of mine safety practices and environmental and safety standards specific to the laboratory
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
- Experience working with SAP is preferred
- Working knowledge of heavy mineral separation techniques
- Several years of industry experience supervising Mineralogy laboratories is preferred
