About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and continually evolve enterprise content strategy aligned with business strategy, enterprise narrative and priority audiences
  • Translate enterprise and business priorities into content themes, campaigns and editorial opportunities
  • Lead annual, quarterly and always-on editorial planning across three Newsrooms and the broader content ecosystem
  • Advise senior Communications, Marketing, Social Media and business leaders on content priorities, audience strategy and owned-media opportunities
  • Set the vision and strategic priorities for The Cigna Group, Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth Health Services Newsrooms
  • Oversee editorial calendars and content portfolios spanning articles, executive perspectives, explainers, multimedia stories, research, data-driven content, podcasts, video and emerging formats
  • Establish publication criteria and activation strategies beyond the Newsroom
  • Maintain standards for accuracy, clarity, credibility, accessibility, brand voice and compliance
  • Lead a cross-functional enterprise planning forum
  • Develop scalable content intake, prioritization, development, review, publishing, distribution and optimization workflows
  • Create standards, tools and templates for consistent application of the enterprise content strategy
  • Balance centralized enterprise direction with business, functional and channel-team expertise
  • Refine content measurement frameworks aligned to audience, reputation and business outcomes
  • Establish dashboards, benchmarks and learning agendas with measurement and analytics teams
  • Use audience data, search behavior, social listening, earned-media insights and content performance to improve results
  • Establish standards for SEO, answer-engine optimization and generative-engine optimization
  • Champion responsible AI-enabled tools for research, planning, content adaptation, tagging, workflow efficiency and performance analysis
  • Create a test-and-learn culture for new formats, distribution methods and audience-engagement approaches

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 12 or more years of experience in enterprise content strategy, corporate communications, content marketing, brand journalism, digital publishing, editorial leadership or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience leading content strategy across a large, matrixed organization with multiple businesses, brands or stakeholder groups
  • Proven ability to connect business strategy and audience needs to content priorities, distribution strategies and measurable outcomes
  • Experience leading owned-media platforms, corporate Newsrooms, content hubs or enterprise editorial programs
  • Strong understanding of integrated communications across owned, earned, paid, social, executive and internal channels
  • Experience establishing content governance, editorial planning processes and cross-functional operating models
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and align stakeholders without relying solely on direct authority
  • Strong command of audience analytics, content performance measurement, SEO and emerging AI-driven discovery practices
  • Excellent editorial judgment and ability to simplify complex health care, business, clinical and policy topics without sacrificing accuracy
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Ability to operate effectively in a highly regulated, fast-moving environment
  • Preferred: experience in health care, financial services or another highly regulated industry
  • Preferred: experience overseeing multiple owned-content properties or a federated content model
  • Preferred: familiarity with content-management platforms, audience analytics, social listening and enterprise workflow tools
  • Preferred: experience integrating corporate communications and marketing content strategies
  • Preferred: experience developing content for sophisticated external audiences, including investors, employers, policymakers, clinicians, customers and patients
  • Preferred: understanding of AI-enabled content workflows, answer-engine optimization and generative-engine optimization
  • Ability to work from a Cigna Group office 3 days a week, as directed by the business
  • If working from home, cable broadband or fiber optic internet service with at least 10 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload
