About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Advise senior leaders, managers and subject-matter experts on complex employee relations matters
  • Lead employee relations activity across multiple business units and functions
  • Translate UK and EU employment law, ACAS guidance, CIPD best practice and regulatory developments into practical action
  • Build leaders’ and managers’ confidence to handle people matters fairly and consistently
  • Shape HR programmes covering employee relations, performance, absence, diversity, wellbeing, recognition and employee communication
  • Partner with the business and HR Centres of Excellence on organisational design and change
  • Identify emerging people, culture and process challenges and influence lasting solutions
  • Design simpler, smarter HR processes to improve service quality and employee and manager experience
  • Review and align HR policies with company, legal, regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Support annual compensation, mid-cycle and ad hoc review processes
  • Use market insight and HR data to identify trends, anticipate risk and improve operations
  • Champion engagement, health and wellbeing, reward and recognition
  • Report to the Head of HR UK and partner with the HR Director of Europe, global HR leads and Centres of Excellence

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive generalist HR business partnering experience
  • Strong record of applying employment law confidently in practice
  • Deep, current and practical knowledge of UK and EU employment law and regulations
  • Sound understanding of health and safety at work requirements
  • Experience supporting multigenerational, multi-site and diverse workforces
  • Experience handling complex and high-profile employee relations matters from assessment through resolution
  • Experience leading end-to-end HR projects in a fast-moving, high-volume and evolving environment
  • Strong analysis, problem-solving, negotiation and influencing abilities
  • Clear communication and ability to build credibility with leaders, managers, employees and employee representatives
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion, integrity and attention to detail
  • Organised and adaptable, with ability to manage priorities and changing deadlines
  • Ability to build relationships through trust, compassion and approachability
  • CIPD qualified at level 5 or above
  • Educated to degree level essential or able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience
  • Qualification in law to degree level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience desirable
