About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide daily leadership, coaching, and support to Benefit Investigation and Prior Authorization Representatives
  • Monitor team productivity, quality, service levels, and turnaround times
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and career development discussions
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, workload distribution, and workflow prioritization
  • Oversee pharmacy benefit investigations, coverage reviews, and prior authorization activities
  • Partner with providers, health plans, pharmacies, and internal business partners to resolve complex issues
  • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with payer requirements, HIPAA regulations, and company policies
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Analyze operational metrics and prepare performance reports for leadership
  • Support onboarding, training, cross-training, and ongoing development
  • Lead team meetings, huddles, and communication initiatives
  • Serve as subject matter expert and escalation point for complex cases
  • Collaborate with leadership on departmental goals, strategic initiatives, and business priorities
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 3+ years of healthcare, pharmacy operations, insurance verification, benefit investigation, prior authorization, or related experience
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy benefits, prior authorization processes, formulary management, and payer requirements
  • Knowledge of specialty pharmacy, patient access, and reimbursement processes preferred
  • Experience analyzing performance metrics and driving operational improvement
  • Strong working knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, and develop employees
  • MA or AZ state Pharmacy Technician license, certification, and/or registration as required by applicable state laws
  • Flexibility to work rotating weekly schedules and rotating weekend coverage
  • If working at home, cable broadband or fiber optic internet with at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload
