About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Firm’s family law attorneys and retained clients
  • Draft, read, and interpret sworn financial statements
  • Review client financial documents for legal proceedings
  • Draft, proofread, and review pleadings
  • Schedule hearings, conferences, and mediations in consultation with attorneys
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely court filings
  • Communicate with clients, answer questions, request information, and provide support
  • Ensure accuracy in billing, time entry, calendaring, and electronic and paper file management
  • Prepare discovery and trial exhibits
  • Maintain current knowledge of Colorado courts and local jurisdictions
  • Calculate accurate deadlines and docket them using electronic calendaring systems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent job experience
  • 5+ years experience as a Family Law paralegal
  • Ability to obtain Notary Commission Certificate
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-developed editing, proofreading, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and composition skills
  • Ability to anticipate problems, find solutions, and prioritize work
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload with critical deadlines
  • High degree of personal integrity, confidentiality, tact, discretion, and judgment
  • Knowledge of preparing documents in accordance with Rule 16.2
  • Experience drafting motions, petitions, notices, and sworn financial statements
  • Knowledge of the discovery process and trial preparation
  • Experience preparing exhibits, exhibit notebooks, and witnesses
  • Experience calendaring multiple attorney calendars with hearings and deadlines
  • Proficient knowledge and experience using Colorado Courts E-Filing
  • Docketing and calendaring experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Adobe, and Excel
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Ability to share workspace, travel by car or train, dress in proper business attire, attend meetings, and meet deadlines
