About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manufacture consumer foods that comply with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Support company and site safety policies, recognize unsafe conditions, coach peers, and suggest safety standards
- Follow and improve operational, maintenance, and sanitation standards in a GMP environment
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, instrumentation, controls, automation equipment, and software
- Operate and troubleshoot power distribution, Studio5000/Logix5000, drives and motion control, FactoryTalk ME/SE, Ethernet/IP control networks, and food manufacturing and utility instrumentation
- Maintain and properly operate electrical testing equipment
- Use drawings, prints, and manuals for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance and work orders; improve preventive maintenance activities
- Coach team members on electrical, instrumentation, controls, machine functionality, defect identification, resolution, and equipment repair
- Participate in training and qualification programs and maintain qualification standards
- Apply continuous improvement tools and breakdown elimination to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Own technical, safety, or quality systems and build technician skills through ongoing coaching
- Create SOPs, job aids, PM improvements, and other documentation
- Attend technical training, vendor visits, and scheduled maintenance activities; develop advanced E&I technology expertise
- Use computers and electronic databases to maintain repair, maintenance, parts usage, and time-tracking records
- Assist with plant drawings and documentation
- Facilitate shift pass-downs regarding safety, quality, and production issues
- Lead projects improving safety, quality, or production results
- Work as part of a team and assist fellow employees as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience with electrical systems, PLC, motor and motion controls, SCADA systems, device and information networks, sensors, and instrumentation equipment for manufacturing is required
- Willing to work a flexible schedule as needed
- Able to read, understand, and follow safety policies, SOPs, GMPs, and general instructions
- Working knowledge of general electrical safety
- Working knowledge of electrical schematics, power distribution and controls, motor and motor controls, PLC logic controls, HMIs, and other industrial controls
- Able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Good communication skills, including ability to give and receive feedback
- Able to provide leadership and prioritization in designated equipment area
- Able to set and meet goals
- Able to prioritize and manage workload in a changing environment
- Able to work independently and on a team
- Able to work with support personnel to maintain safety, quality, and reliability standards and drive improvements
- Able to make data-driven decisions and engage others as appropriate
- Basic mathematical, statistical, and analytical skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Able to learn company-specific computer systems, including maintenance enterprise system
- Able to perform key responsibilities in accordance with safety standards and practices
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, enter confined spaces, push, pull, kneel, squat, climb, perform repetitive actions, reach, feel, hear, speak, see, and climb stairs and ladders
- Associates, technical degree or training; previous mechanical/maintenance experience; and previous food manufacturing experience are additional skills and experience that may support success
- Must attain and maintain low voltage qualification within six months of start date
