About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as a key legal advisor embedded across Hometap’s business
Provide legal and regulatory guidance on data privacy, artificial intelligence, dispute resolution, and other matters
Advise on strategic initiatives and operational optimization
Work directly with departmental leadership to align legal strategy with commercial objectives
Streamline legal operations
Draft, review, and negotiate technology contracts, vendor arrangements, and strategic partnership agreements
Collaborate with finance, technology, and operations teams to ensure compliance and manage third-party risk
Support Hometap’s mission of enabling homeowners to access home equity without taking on debt through home equity investment solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need

J.D. from an accredited law school
Active bar membership
At least four years of relevant legal experience, including in-house exposure
Experience in consumer financial services, fintech, mortgage lending, or other highly regulated, consumer-facing industries is strongly preferred
Ability to structure and negotiate commercial agreements
Comfort navigating new legal domains
Skill translating complex requirements into clear, actionable guidance for business partners
