About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide leadership and oversight for facilities, campus safety, emergency preparedness, and transportation services across both campuses
- Lead, supervise, develop, and hold operational employees accountable
- Establish operational policies, procedures, schedules, systems, documentation, and accountability measures
- Coordinate priorities and work across operational functions
- Develop and manage operating and capital budgets with the CFOO and Business Office
- Manage vendor and service relationships, contracts, scopes of work, performance, quality, timeliness, and costs
- Serve as an escalation point for urgent campus needs and emergencies
- Oversee maintenance, repair, appearance, safety, and operation of buildings, grounds, infrastructure, and physical assets
- Manage HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevators, janitorial, landscaping, pest control, fire protection, access control, and other building systems
- Oversee the facilities work-order system and preventive maintenance programs
- Coordinate repairs, renovations, improvements, inspections, and facilities projects
- Lead the campus safety and security program, including patrols, visitor management, surveillance, access control, alarms, traffic management, and incident response
- Develop, implement, test, and review emergency preparedness and response procedures
- Coordinate emergency training, drills, equipment, supplies, documentation, and readiness initiatives
- Maintain relationships with law enforcement, fire, EMS, emergency management, and public safety partners
- Oversee transportation routes, field trips, athletics transportation, driver staffing, scheduling, vehicles, inspections, maintenance, and records
- Serve as a backup driver when necessary
- Support the School's Montessori and IB educational methods and mission
- Participate in assigned committees and meetings and perform other duties assigned by the CFOO or Head of School
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
- Demonstrated experience in facilities, operations, safety/security, transportation, or a related operational field
- Experience overseeing multiple operational functions preferred
- Experience supervising employees and managing vendors, contractors, budgets, projects, and operational systems
- Broad knowledge of facility operations, building systems, maintenance practices, and vendor and contractor management
- Strong leadership, organizational, project-management, analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and customer-service skills
- Ability to remain composed and exercise appropriate judgment during emergencies and high-pressure situations
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and operational management systems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
- Have or be willing and able to obtain and maintain a Class B Commercial Driver's License with required passenger and school bus endorsements
- Maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record
- Commitment to the School's mission and core values
- Successful reference check and background investigation required
- Ability to work the primary M–F 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. schedule, with evenings/weekends and on-call responsibilities as needed
- Ability to travel regularly between both campuses
- Ability to walk buildings and grounds, climb stairs and ladders, stand for extended periods, and perform facilities-related movements
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds
