About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Attend court hearings and prepare pleadings, motions, and correspondence relating to nonjudicial foreclosures, foreclosure-related litigation, loss-mitigation, bankruptcy, post-foreclosure evictions, and surplus proceeds cases
- Supervise paralegal staff in preparation of legal work product
- Manage contested litigation actions and act as primary contact for clients and staff
- Efficiently manage multiple files involving litigation issues, foreclosures, bankruptcy, evictions, excess proceeds, deeds in lieu, replevins, sales, probate, and other litigation matters
- Research and analyze new regulatory demands
- Prepare letters, emails, documents, pleadings, motions, discovery, disclosure, and appellate briefs
- Review, audit, edit, guide, and approve department legal work product
- Maintain ethical standards, case-load management, communication, and timeliness
- Communicate with clients and provide excellent customer service
- Attend court hearings, sales, mediations, trials, and oral arguments
- Conduct initial intake and prepare strategy analyses for new cases
- Research applicable law and facts
- Accurately record billable work
- Attend CLEs and assist with tasks assigned by the Managing Attorney
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctorate
- Texas Bar license in good standing
- 5+ years of experience as an associate attorney
- Familiarity with Texas foreclosure work
- Relevant technology competencies such as Westlaw and time-billing software
- Background in foreclosure, title, and/or bankruptcy preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed
- Ability to attend court hearings, sales, mediations, trials, and oral arguments as required
- Ability to work in an office setting and operate a computer, printer, or other standard office equipment
