About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide legal advice and services to the Office of Business and Finance, including the Office of the Treasurer, Office of Investments, and Office of the University Bursar
- Advise department heads and administrators on governance, banking and financial services, debt, capital formation, mergers & acquisitions, and securities law
- Advise on domestic and international investments in public equity, venture capital, private equity financings, hedge fund, real estate and infrastructure, and high-grade bond funds
- Review and recommend on existing and proposed general business operations, including the university energy concession
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal instruments, including sophisticated limited partnership agreements and accompanying side letters
- Conduct and supervise legal research
- Manage outside counsel
- Initiate and implement special projects and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Member of the Ohio bar or eligible to practice law in the State of Ohio within one year or less
- Approval of the Ohio Attorney General's Office prior to hire and appointment to serve as an Assistant Attorney General of Ohio
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience in a law firm or corporation focused on sophisticated business and commercial transactions
- Must not require employer sponsorship for a work visa
- Successful completion of a background check; drug screen or physical may be required during the post-offer process
