About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and deliver educational programs, workshops, and seminars on leadership development, academic career advancement, faculty mentoring, faculty vitality, resilience, communication, team effectiveness, change leadership, and organizational effectiveness
- Apply adult learning principles and evidence-based educational practices to course and program development
- Facilitate interactive learning experiences for faculty, administrators, clinician educators, researchers, and emerging leaders
- Support development, implementation, facilitation, and evaluation of faculty development initiatives across the College of Medicine
- Collaborate with FAME leadership on faculty leadership and career development programming
- Contribute to strategic planning that advances faculty engagement, professional growth, and leadership effectiveness
- Develop resources, tools, and assessments supporting faculty success across the academic career continuum
- Design and implement program evaluation strategies and use data for continuous improvement
- Contribute to scholarly dissemination through presentations, publications, and educational scholarship
- Serve as a content expert in leadership development and faculty affairs
- Participate in School, College, and University service activities
- Serve on committees and working groups supporting faculty advancement and leadership development
- Represent SHRS and the College of Medicine in local, regional, and national faculty development initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Doctoral degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration, Health Professions Education, Organizational Development, or a closely related field
- Experience teaching and facilitating professional development programs in higher education or healthcare settings
- Demonstrated excellence in public speaking, facilitation, and curriculum development
- Extensive experience leading faculty development initiatives within an academic medical center
- Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience in faculty affairs, academic affairs, faculty development, or career development within an academic medical center (preferred)
- Experience directing or co-directing a comprehensive faculty affairs, academic affairs, or faculty development office (preferred)
- Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating institution-wide faculty leadership development programs (preferred)
- Experience creating and managing faculty mentoring, mentorship training, networking, onboarding, and faculty vitality initiatives (preferred)
- Record of peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and educational scholarship (preferred)
- Experience supervising professional staff and leading cross-functional teams (preferred)
- Active engagement and leadership in relevant national organizations (preferred)
- Experience securing, managing, or evaluating externally funded programs (preferred)
- Expertise in adult learning theory and evidence-based approaches to leadership development
- Knowledge of faculty promotion pathways, academic career progression, faculty engagement, and leadership development within academic health centers
- Familiarity with the Ohio State University College of Medicine's FAME Center and its programming
- Experience collaborating with medical school leadership, department chairs, faculty affairs professionals, and faculty development offices (preferred)
- Final candidates must successfully complete a background check
- Must sign an authorization and disclosure form if the faculty position carries tenure
