About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in execution and management of research projects investigating neuromotor dysfunction
  • Implement study goals and objectives
  • Design and execute complex laboratory experiments
  • Perform biomechanical, electroencephalographic (EEG), and functional testing techniques
  • Recruit, enroll, and deliver interventions to human subjects with cancer and/or neurological deficits
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret research data
  • Assist with developing and implementing research methodologies and techniques
  • Test experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods; make utilization recommendations
  • Assist in establishing controls, criteria, and research standards
  • Train and/or supervise research staff in biophysical data acquisition and research participant safety
  • Manage daily laboratory operations
  • Procure lab supplies and equipment; provide technical assistance and equipment supervision
  • Negotiate and oversee equipment service contracts and repairs
  • Analyze relevant research literature
  • Assist with research papers, manuscripts, presentations, project reports, articles, and other documents
  • Assist the principal investigator with proposals for new or renewed extramural funding
  • Coordinate laboratory activities and work assignments for students and laboratory research staff
  • Oversee and coordinate periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 3 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 1 year of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree
  • Master's degree in an appropriate biological/health science with experience in human subjects’ research or an equivalent combination of education and experience in human subjects’ research is preferred
  • Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in biomechanical/neuroscience/health science research
  • Considerable knowledge of biomechanical laboratory methods, materials, and equipment
  • Familiarity with MatLab and Excel
  • Proven ability to build rapport with individuals with neuromotor dysfunction is desired
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process
