About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and provide care to patients and their families
- Direct and supervise nursing care provided by other patient care team members
- Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, delegate, and evaluate nursing care
- Respond primarily to telephone calls from established James patients within the defined nursing scope of practice
- Complete initial call assessments and triage calls based on assessments
- Use established triage algorithms to guide assessments and interventions
- Document call assessments and management in the electronic medical record
- Follow up on and help resolve post-discharge or post-procedure calls requiring additional intervention
- Serve as a clinical resource for James scheduling staff regarding referral needs
- Support positive patient outcomes, patient involvement, staff engagement, patient experience, quality, safety, and cost-effective care
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in Nursing from a CCNE- or ACEN-accredited nursing program required
- Current Ohio license or interim permit required for hire
- Maintains current Ohio RN license
- Meets mandatory educational and health requirements
- Demonstrates computer skills required to meet job functions
- Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) preferred
- Experience in telephone assessment and management preferred
- Qualified candidates preferably have 5 or more years of oncology or triage experience
- Available for varying shifts, including weekend and holiday shifts
- Located within 1.5 hours of the facility
- Final candidates subject to successful completion of a background check
- Drug screen or physical may be required during the post-offer process
