About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments and procedures
  • Accommodate scheduling requests and prioritize exams based on clinical indications and contraindications
  • Confirm patient appointments
  • Answer phone calls and provide accurate exam-related information, including preparation instructions
  • Verify referring physician orders against scheduled appointments
  • Verify patient demographics and insurance information
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy
  • Maintain scheduling productivity within benchmark levels
  • Interact with physicians, office staff, patients, patient families, nursing personnel, and other clinical personnel
  • Participate in staff training and education activities
  • Assist other staff and shifts as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Graduate
  • 3-6 months in health care or customer service field
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of scheduling protocols and guidelines
  • Knowledge of patient registration and pre-certification requirements
  • Basic knowledge of health insurance and billing procedures
  • Knowledge of order entry and scanning capabilities
  • Knowledge of computer systems necessary to retrieve orders
  • Knowledge of scheduling system and all necessary functions
  • Medical terminology course, preferred
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
