About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of an RN
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team using the nursing process
  • Implement and document individualized plans of care, including age-specific considerations, discharge planning, and patient/family teaching
  • Assist with tests and procedures
  • Perform patient rounds and answer call lights promptly
  • Report unusual incidents and patient condition or behavior changes to the RN preceptor
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families
  • Use technology appropriately when entering or securing data in the electronic medical record
  • Practice time management, prioritization, and self-motivation
  • Participate in educational programs, read current literature, and attend in-services and meetings
  • Identify and report safety concerns, medical errors, and near misses
  • Complete 200 hours during the semester for a clinical capstone, then transition to the associated campus role

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Graduate
  • Enrollment in an accredited nursing program
  • Completion of a "Fundamentals of Nursing" or "Med/Surg" course
  • CPR/AED/BLS certification; other BLS within 14 days
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred
