About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review and investigate transaction monitoring alerts against AML and Counter-Terrorist Financing criteria
  • Raise and accurately report Suspicious Activity Reports and support follow-up investigations before submission to the National Crime Agency
  • Maintain current knowledge of AML, POCA, CTF and JMLSG guidance and apply it
  • Respond promptly to law-enforcement enquiries while meeting GDPR requirements
  • Analyse patterns, trends and unusual customer behaviour to identify fraud risks, prevent financial loss and reduce regulatory exposure
  • Act as a point of reference for colleagues and stakeholders on financial crime detection and prevention
  • Screen alerts for Politically Exposed Persons, UN Sanctions and SIPs, verifying identity and identifying Adverse Media
  • Complete regular Enhanced Due Diligence checks on PEPs, RCAs and SIPs retained by the business
  • Work Monday–Friday, 14:45–22:15
  • Attend occasional in-person team days in Bolton or Speke
  • Collaborate with internal teams and law-enforcement partners

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2–3 years of experience in a financial services, banking or customer-facing environment
  • Previous experience within Fraud Prevention or Financial Crime teams
  • Understanding of AML regulation and its application in a business environment
  • Experience with KYC processes, PEP and Sanctions screening, and Adverse Media checks
  • Ability to spot risks, interpret patterns, and make decisions quickly and confidently
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and manage a busy workload with accuracy and care
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems, tools and processes
  • Focus, integrity and resilience when dealing with complex or sensitive cases
  • Successful candidates must undertake credit, CIFAS and Right to Work checks; a DBS check may be required for specific roles
