About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build a national community of supporters around the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library
Identify and cultivate prospective supporters across the United States
Develop trusted donor relationships and uncover philanthropic interests
Develop compelling philanthropic proposals and secure transformational gifts
Build donor portfolios from the ground up and create pipelines of transformational gifts
Conduct donor visits and close gifts of five figures and above
Maintain accurate and timely donor interaction records in CRM systems
Work with the Chief Development Officer to align major gift efforts with fundraising strategy
Collaborate with development, communications, and programming colleagues on donor materials and engagement opportunities
Participate in campaign planning and special projects
Provide donor recognition and report on gift impact
Track progress toward goals and contribute to departmental reporting and forecasting
Represent the organization at events and donor meetings as an ambassador for its mission

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus
5+ years of professional fundraising experience
At least 3 years of major gifts or principal gifts experience
Proven success securing five- and six-figure gifts
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Self-motivated with strong organizational and relationship management abilities
Familiarity with DonorPerfect or other CRM/database systems, such as Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds
Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Ability to travel to/between Medora and donor events, as needed
Flexibility to occasionally work evenings or weekends in support of organizational events
50% travel required
