About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the principal process owner for Thermulon's capital projects, including toll-manufacturing scale-up and the first commercial-scale plant
- Translate strategic direction, capital programme milestones and Big5 targets into a 12–18 month process engineering plan
- Act as principal process engineer across capital projects while contributing hands-on to delivery
- Apply process safety engineering judgment to HAZIDs, HAZOPs and action closeout
- Provide technical supervision, mentoring and quality assurance to the process engineering team
- Develop creative, practical solutions to delivery challenges using process technology, standards and literature
- Own PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, equipment user specifications, technical bid evaluations, FAT/SAT testing and commissioning plans
- Prepare technical documentation for partners, vendors and grant bodies; contribute to process IP and patent proposals
- Own technical project risk registers and management-of-change registers and drive closeout
- Sign off and perform due diligence on techno-economic analyses of process plants
- Lead technical communication with process engineering, R&D, Commercial and Operations teams
- Interface with project delivery partners and external process consultants, translating input into project decisions
- Interact with partners and customers in a technical capacity when needed
- Support and supervise equipment proposals, designs and vendor validation work
- Participate directly in trial campaigns as needed

- A degree in Chemical or Process Engineering
- Mobility and interest to work at different sites for scale-up, commissioning and early production
- Chartered Engineer status (IChemE or equivalent) desirable
- Experience with HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, risk management and change management desirable
- Formal techno-economic analysis training desirable
- Experience running equipment trials or pilot campaigns with third-party vendors desirable
- Experience scaling an immature or novel chemical process desirable
- Prior experience supervising or technically line-managing junior or graduate engineers desirable
- Experience managing a process development or engineering budget desirable
- Proven leadership of a process engineering team desirable
