About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the technical side of the newly established AI Center of Excellence and build the unit together with its leadership
Guide prioritized use cases from the initial idea through prototyping and piloting to stable operations
Document the system landscape, interfaces, data sources, AI licenses, and tools in use
Assess the technical feasibility of use cases, including data, systems, effort, and risks
Develop solution options ranging from simple automation to generative AI and AI agents
Provide effort, cost, and feasibility estimates, including ongoing licensing, infrastructure, and operating costs
Support prototypes and pilots using real data and users
Define test cases, measure output quality, and improve prompts, workflows, and models
Identify core systems and support integrations with AI solutions in collaboration with internal IT
Integrate external systems via APIs and connectors such as MCP servers
Clarify data requirements, data quality, storage locations, and responsibilities with the relevant business departments
Evaluate and select AI platforms and tools, including language models, Copilot solutions, agent frameworks, and automation and low-code tools
Develop a technology blueprint together with IT
Implement requirements relating to data protection, IT security, and the EU AI Act
Document solutions, transition them to operations in a structured manner, and retain responsibility for AI-specific components
Further develop solutions based on user feedback and measured results
Technically manage external implementation partners
Support leadership in delivering training with demos and practical examples
Serve as the technical point of contact for AI champions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Completed degree in computer science, business informatics, data science, or a comparable field, or equivalent practical experience
Several years of experience developing or integrating AI, data, or automation solutions
In-depth knowledge of generative AI, including language models, prompt engineering, RAG, AI agents, and output-quality evaluation
Extensive experience in system integration using APIs, connectors, and integration platforms
Good understanding of data architecture, data quality, and data access
Basic programming skills, ideally in Python or TypeScript
Experience with cloud platforms
Knowledge of IT security and data protection, particularly access-control concepts, logging, and handling sensitive data
Experience transitioning solutions into operations and continuously developing them there
Hands-on mentality
Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to business departments
Very good German and good English skills
