About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and manage the Form 990 process across the firm
  • Monitor and ensure timely completion and accuracy of Form 990, 990-EZ, 990-T, 990-PF, 1120-POL, and applicable state returns
  • Manage extensions and estimated tax payments
  • Coordinate workflow across staff to meet internal and external deadlines
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements
  • Identify and resolve complex technical issues involving public support tests, UBI, excise taxes, private foundation compliance, and state filing requirements
  • Serve as primary reviewer before partner-level review
  • Address 990-related client questions and communicate requirements, deadlines, and issues
  • Supervise, train, coach, and review staff
  • Develop training materials, tools, and standardized best practices
  • Identify advisory opportunities using Form 990 insights
  • Collaborate with audit, tax, and CAAS departments on client service and growth
  • Participate in proposals, presentations, and client discussions as a Form 990 subject matter resource

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Active CPA License
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive nonprofit tax experience
  • CCH Axcess Tax Software experience preferred, not required
  • Active PTIN, or ability to obtain one before start date
