About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of operations to verify policy and procedure implementation and regulatory compliance
  • Report findings to line and senior management and support rectification of deficiencies
  • Assist with workers’ compensation claims, return-to-work, and modified-work programs
  • Conduct or oversee incident investigations and communicate recommendations to all sites
  • Ensure company policies are implemented and adhered to in areas under control
  • Develop policies where appropriate to support consistent performance and management
  • Maintain industry-required qualifications and keep abreast of developments
  • Participate in committees to maintain industry contacts and information exchange
  • Communicate subordinate accountabilities and responsibilities and manage employees accordingly
  • Liaise with other departments to fulfill position requirements
  • Maintain good client relations and promote company interests
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, asset, HR, recruitment, payroll, and other corporate policies
  • Follow corporate and project processes and procedures
  • Maintain current training under corporate safety and cyber security programs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ontario Underground Hardrock Miner Common Core required
  • NORCAT Certificate required
  • Previous experience as a Safety Coordinator in the mining or construction industry
  • Strong technical and non-technical teamwork skills
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills
  • Methodical and detail-oriented approach to work practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Computer usage with operations-specific software
  • Ability to adapt and learn or accept as required
  • Must maintain qualifications in keeping with industry requirements
  • Schedule of 10–12 hours per day
  • Adherence to corporate and project policies, processes, and procedures
  • Stay up to date on training under corporate safety and cyber security programs
