About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material according to work order specifications
  • Set up, operate, and maintain cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment
  • Pull, inspect, and verify product before processing
  • Set up equipment and process material according to set up notes and work order specifications
  • Verify product specifications, record measurements, and perform quality checks
  • Communicate with sales representatives regarding order changes or clarification
  • Recommend process improvements in the manufacturing area
  • Perform preventive maintenance and general clean-up
  • Enter and delete material identification tags
  • Balance workload and assist or direct others when needed
  • Assist with packaging material
  • Maintain measurement equipment and operate weighing scales
  • Identify, record, and segregate scrap and non-conforming material
  • Provide feedback on machine efficiency and product quality
  • Complete production/productivity logs and reconcile production data
  • Train others when required
  • Assist with lean and quality activities
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly processing area

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be certified in the material handler position
  • High school diploma / GED
  • 1 to 2 years machine operation experience
  • Ability to read and write
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
  • Perform basic math skills
  • Use of handheld measuring tools
  • Safety Mindset
  • Previous warehouse experience, especially in the metals industry (preferred)
  • Previous forklift experience (preferred)
  • Computer literate (preferred)
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing, which may include testing for marijuana
  • Ability to work around heavy machinery on the warehouse floor
