About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Protect the organization's rights in contract negotiations, settlements, and litigation
  • Identify, evaluate, and address legal-risk issues
  • Research, analyze, and interpret proposed and existing laws, statutes, and regulations
  • Advise management on legal and regulatory changes affecting the company
  • Liaise with external legal counsel on complex legal issues
  • Provide practical guidance on domestic and international privacy and cybersecurity frameworks
  • Embed privacy-by-design practices into new products, services, and digital experiences
  • Advise on privacy and data protection aspects of AI, quantum computing, and other emerging technologies
  • Partner with Risk and Compliance to develop governance frameworks and enterprise policy
  • Participate in cybersecurity governance and privacy incident response, including investigation, containment, and notification
  • Negotiate privacy and cybersecurity protections in vendor and strategic partnership agreements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Doctoral Degree Required
  • 5+ years of experience in privacy, data protection, and/or cybersecurity law
  • Experience advising on privacy compliance, product counseling, and commercial negotiations
  • 7+ years of experience preferred in privacy, data protection, and/or cybersecurity law
  • Experience advising on AI and emerging technology from a privacy and data protection perspective preferred
  • Exposure to cybersecurity governance or privacy incident response preferred
  • Financial services, fintech, or other regulated industry experience preferred
  • CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or other IAPP privacy certification preferred
  • Sedentary work physical requirement
