About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage accounting operations and supervise accounting professionals for Nuveen Green Capital’s sustainable commercial real estate lending business
- Coordinate day-to-day general accounting activities and timely preparation of US GAAP financial statements
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entry processes through accounting close
- Prepare ad hoc journals for asset and debt investment transactions
- Enforce preparation of US GAAP work papers and supporting schedules for investment accounting requirements and audits
- Oversee balance sheet, profit and loss, and bank account reconciliations
- Review financial statements, cash flow reports, budget reports, and other accounting reports
- Partner with internal and external auditors and financial professionals
- Manage complex accounting calculations in Microsoft Excel and the NetSuite environment
- Oversee system upgrades, process improvements, new product implementation, asset management initiatives, and reporting needs
- Maintain investment accounting policies, procedures, and control processes
- Monitor team performance through feedback and formal reviews, supporting engagement, motivation, and development
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of controls, audit, accounting, or finance experience
- Extensive expertise in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Oracle and/or NetSuite accounting systems
- 7+ years of controls, audit, accounting, or finance experience preferred
- University degree preferred
- High level of experience with NetSuite or comparable accounting system preferred
- Financial services industry experience preferred
- Familiarity with loan accounting standards and procedures preferred
- Experience using data and analytics tools such as Alteryx, Python, Power BI, Tableau, or similar
- Sedentary work physical requirements
