About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage experienced professionals and provide technical leadership for end-to-end design, development, and delivery of technology-enabled applications, products, and services
Meet development schedules and deliver high-quality solutions that meet technical specifications and design requirements
Manage software specification and design phases of the software development life cycle
Manage design and implementation of new software development and enhancement efforts and software testing with other technologists
Design and develop technical solutions for new software development and enhancement efforts
Coordinate coding and unit testing phases and facilitate code reviews
Approve domain solutions and execute changes in line with implementation plans
Liaise with senior leadership on project, operational, and strategy risks and opportunities, including corrective action plans
Manage delivery on project and operational commitments, including quality and timeliness metrics
Contribute to process improvements, cost reduction efforts, and tool development to simplify and improve software development and support
Ensure initiatives align with the platform technical and business roadmap
Manage direct-report performance through feedback and formal performance reviews, supporting service delivery, engagement, motivation, and development

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree required
5+ years of Java development experience, including Java 17+ and architecture ownership for enterprise platforms
5+ years owning SDLC governance, architectural decision-making, and API security standards
3+ years of people management or technical leadership experience
3+ years owning Level 1 production support strategy for business-critical systems
Experience monitoring and remediating vulnerabilities across production releases
Experience with AWS EKS and containerization using Docker/Kubernetes preferred
Experience with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, CloudBees, and ArgoCD preferred
Experience defining governance frameworks and quality/security guardrails for AI-assisted development tools preferred
Financial services or insurance industry experience, particularly annuity products, recordkeeping, or accumulation ledger systems preferred
Knowledge of Agile Methodology, Continuous Integration and Deployment, Data Analysis, Debugging, DevOps, Enterprise Application Integration, Operating Systems Management, Programming, Software Development, Software Development Life Cycle, and Web Application Development
