About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare patients for surgery and address their concerns
- Ensure the operating room is sterile and secure necessary supplies and instruments
- Hand medical supplies to attending surgeons during operations
- Monitor patients' physical and emotional well-being throughout the care continuum
- Observe patient vital signs
- Inform the attending surgeon of issues and anomalies
- Provide nursing care based on AORN standards of care and professional nursing practice
- Be accountable for outcomes of nursing care delivered
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
- Registered Nurse license from the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, in good standing with the South Carolina Board of Nursing, required
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire and recertification every two years, required
- Previous experience in an acute care critical care setting preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification from the American Heart Association preferred
- Knowledge of equipment and appropriate use
- Knowledge and compliance with the Universal Protocol
- Knowledge of proper patient positioning
- Ability to work with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers
- Medium physical demand
