About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead discovery sessions with compliance teams, investigators, and risk leads to define monitoring scopes and operational workflows
- Create Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Specification Documents (FSDs), user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Perform gap analysis between current (“AS-IS”) compliance operations and target (“TO-BE”) platform capabilities
- Inspect customer, account, and transaction data models from core banking systems
- Define source-data mappings into AML transaction-monitoring or screening engines
- Conduct data discovery to identify missing or corrupt historical data needed for alert generation
- Translate regulatory rules and internal risk mandates into transaction-monitoring parameters and typology thresholds
- Evaluate vendor product modules against local jurisdictional compliance requirements
- Define standardization and cleansing rules
- Facilitate alignment between technical producers and business consumers
- Build test plans and realistic financial-crime test cases
- Manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business stakeholders
- Confirm monitoring scenarios trigger alerts correctly without unmanageable false-positive spikes
- Answer functional questions from software developers, data engineers, and QA teams during the build phase
- Document constraints, track project assumptions, and manage scope adjustments throughout the project lifecycle
- Assist architects and developers with domain knowledge in technical discussions
Requirements
What you’ll need- 12+ years of experience in IT as a Business Analyst in Banking/Financial domain
- 3–7+ years of experience in AML/FCC/KYC for a domain-heavy role
- Ability to think from the client's business standpoint and align program executions to business outcomes or business needs
- Ability to proactively determine effective approaches for implementation or augmentation during modernization initiatives
- Working familiarity with Excel, SQL, BI/visualization tools, and/or Python
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders, assertively gain attention, and drive compliance
