About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work under the supervision of a Professional Engineer experienced in Geotechnical Engineering
  • Assist in preparing scopes of work
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate geotechnical investigations, including borings and test pits
  • Log soil, water, and rock conditions
  • Prepare subsurface exploration logs
  • Assist in analyzing geotechnical data to determine subsurface conditions and material properties
  • Prepare geotechnical reports, including design recommendations and analysis
  • Perform foundation design, slope stability analysis, and settlement calculations
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates, construction specifications, and other project-related documents
  • Collaborate and communicate with multidisciplinary teams, engineers, scientists, and clients
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and project specifications
  • Support construction monitoring activities, including geotechnical observation and inspections
  • Maintain accurate documentation of fieldwork and project data

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, geotechnical engineering, or another related engineering field
  • Relevant experience through internships or full-time roles in engineering design, consulting, and/or construction observation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to learn, self-motivation, and excellent organizational skills
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and conduct fieldwork within the Northeast Region
  • Master's degree in civil engineering with a geotechnical concentration preferred
  • Hands-on experience with geotechnical software such as SLIDE, SLOPEW, SETTTLE3, SupportIT, LPile, GRLWEAP, or similar preferred
  • 1 or more years of relevant internship experience or full-time work experience in geotechnical engineering preferred
  • Completed FE or EIT certification or planning to obtain within 6 months preferred
