About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Attend hearings and/or prepare local appearance counsel with clear instructions regarding desired outcomes
- Provide timely hearing results internally and to clients when requested
- Review and sign pleadings before client and/or court submission for compliance with internal and external rules
- Monitor ECFs and dockets in real time and escalate actionable docket events
- Confirm internal and external systems are completed timely and appropriately with referral- and case-specific information
- Ensure staff have workable templates complying with local and federal procedural rules and district- or judge-specific rules
- Escalate, manage, and mitigate identified matters of risk
- Provide loan-level support, legal guidance, and robust legal analysis to firm staff and clients
- Guide staff in preparing pleadings and provide templates
- Coordinate with leadership to identify process improvements
- Remain current on relevant case law and bankruptcy code or case law developments
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active bar admission for New Jersey with member in good standing status
- Admission or ability to get admitted to all bankruptcy courts within the state in which you have an active bar membership
- Experience representing creditors in bankruptcy proceedings in the jurisdiction in which hired, or willingness to obtain bankruptcy knowledge
- Ability to work with others in a congenial and team-oriented manner
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multitask and adapt to continual change
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Compliance with technology requirements
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods while typing, using, and looking at a computer
- Possible travel for in-person court hearings
