About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the finance function as the senior finance person in the business
Report directly to the CEO and work alongside the fractional CFO
Own financial control and governance, ensuring controls, processes and reporting are robust and scalable
Deliver accurate, timely financial insight and explain its business implications
Own forecasting, cash flow and financial modelling
Analyse apprenticeship programmes, funding streams and commercial performance to understand profitability
Build financial models and insight supporting growth strategy, investment decisions and Office for Students ambitions
Act as a trusted commercial partner to leaders across Tiro
Challenge assumptions, identify risks and find smarter ways of working
Develop the Financial Controller and strengthen the finance function
Use systems, data and automation to improve finance operations

Requirements

What you’ll need

Qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
Significant experience across financial control, management accounts, reporting, forecasting and governance
Experience ideally in a growing SME
Comfortable operating in regulated and audited environments
Strong financial controls, processes and documentation knowledge
Experience in apprenticeship funding, further or higher education, or another regulated funding environment is a bonus
Commercial curiosity and ability to turn financial information into business decisions
Advanced Excel skills
Experience with Xero and Fatham
Experience owning a finance function
Ability to work with autonomy and take ownership
Successful candidates must complete safeguarding checks and a DBS Disclosure Form
Must not have undeclared convictions not subject to DBS filtering
