About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians delivering design and construction projects for general aviation and commercial airports and airline clients throughout Minnesota
  • Oversee the Aviation Project Delivery team’s growth, vision, and financial performance
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Aviation and other Group Managers on annual and strategic business objectives
  • Develop and implement marketing plans
  • Track prospective business opportunities and make strategic project-pursuit decisions
  • Lead proposal development efforts
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective clients
  • Represent TKDA at project interviews
  • Attend local and regional conferences
  • Manage, recognize, and develop team members through coaching and progressive responsibility
  • Serve frequently as Project Manager for multi-discipline design and construction projects
  • Evaluate project scope, complexity, schedules, and deliverables
  • Manage project budgets, quality control, and contract execution
  • Maintain office and project-site presence, including possible construction support during evenings, weekends, or holidays

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related program from an accredited college/university
  • Registered professional engineer in Minnesota
  • Fifteen or more years of progressive experience developing, managing, and delivering design and construction projects for general aviation and commercial service airports
  • Experience managing multi-disciplined airport engineering projects with a track record of profitability and client satisfaction or repeat business
  • Business development experience cultivating and maintaining client relationships and identifying new business or contract opportunities
  • Experience pursuing and securing airport project opportunities in multiple locations
  • Experience coaching, developing, and leading engineering professionals
  • Experience designing and overseeing airfield construction projects
  • Extensive knowledge of FAA airport planning, design, and construction regulations
  • Effective written, verbal, and visual communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel locally and overnight up to 10% as needed
  • Must reside within regular commuting distance of MSP/Bloomington, Minnesota
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
  • AAAE Certified Member advantageous
  • Experience developing annual business plans and multi-year strategic plans advantageous
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, AviPLAN, 3-D rendering software, and aviation simulation tools advantageous
  • Licensed pilot advantageous
