About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop plans, design specifications, and detailed drawings for process piping and industrial ventilation systems
  • Assist with creation of process flow diagrams and equipment arrangement and layouts
  • Assist with construction administration, including interpreting plans, observing construction progress, and maintaining reports
  • Ensure installation conforms with plans and specifications
  • Collaborate with mechanical, structural, electrical, and civil engineering professionals
  • Design complex plant/building systems and site operations for mining, mineral processing, aggregate, and metals sectors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program
  • Two to five years of progressive experience designing commercial and/or industrial mechanical systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to write specifications and reports and participate in project team meeting discussions
  • Candidates must reside within regular commuting distance of Duluth, MN or Bloomington, MN
  • Travel up to 15% to other TKDA offices and project or client locations
  • Authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future visa sponsorship needs
  • Experience with layout of ductwork and piping systems in a 3D environment is advantageous
  • Experience with industrial process piping and ductwork layout is advantageous
  • Experience with mechanical design is advantageous
  • Familiarity with process flow diagrams, process piping diagrams, and/or piping & instrumentation diagrams is advantageous
  • Experience with Plant 3D and SolidWorks is advantageous
