About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the growth, direction, financial performance, and leadership of the Mining Structural team
- Provide structural engineering solutions for mining, mineral processing, aggregate, metals, and heavy industrial operations
- Coach and mentor engineering professionals and support their professional development
- Provide structural engineering guidance to project teams and project managers throughout project lifecycles
- Serve as lead structural engineer when needed
- Provide and oversee quality assurance and quality control efforts
- Manage projects and collaborate with civil, electrical, mechanical, structural, and design professionals
- Evaluate project scope, complexity, scheduling requirements, budgets, and planning strategies
- Coordinate project execution from conception through construction
- Negotiate contracts
- Develop and implement marketing plans under the Seller-Doer approach
- Track prospective business opportunities and make strategic project-pursuit decisions
- Lead proposal development and represent TKDA at project interviews
- Cultivate relationships with current and prospective clients through conferences and networking events
Requirements
What you’ll need- Professional Engineer (PE) with fifteen or more years of progressive structural design experience
- Project experience for mining, heavy industrial facilities, processing plants, material handling systems, and other process-related structures
- Minimum of five years of experience directly managing a diverse portfolio of multi-disciplined projects
- Knowledge of working with Architecture, Civil, Electrical, Structural, and other disciplines on larger projects
- Experience coaching, developing, or leading mechanical engineering professionals or project teams
- Experience preparing technical reports assessing existing mechanical systems for deficiencies, improvements, and/or replacement
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, and PowerPoint
- Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work outside normal operating hours
- Ability to travel up to 20% for project meetings and on-site client consultations
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
- Professional registration in multiple states is advantageous
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is advantageous
- Active membership in professional activities, societies, and organizations is advantageous
