About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage a portfolio of heavy industrial projects
- Lead multi-discipline project teams for facility design, demolition, balance of plant, and material handling projects
- Deliver full-service engineering and design solutions for mining, mineral processing, aggregate, and metals sectors
- Oversee technical, quality, and financial aspects from project conception through construction
- Contribute to business plans and market development efforts
- Maintain client relationships, develop proposals, and participate in client presentations
- Scope project requirements and lead mechanical design efforts
- Verify calculations and validate equipment sizing and selection
- Develop detailed drawings, technical specifications, and reports
- Coordinate design standards with other disciplines
- Conduct construction administration, observation, and inspection
- Mentor and develop less experienced team members
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Professional Engineer with ten or more years of progressive technical design experience
- Experience designing industrial ventilation and dust collection systems, HVAC and/or pumping and process piping systems
- Experience designing systems for mining or heavy industrial facilities
- Experience managing multi-discipline projects with service fees exceeding $300,000 per year
- Experience coordinating design standards and requirements with architecture, civil, electrical, and structural disciplines
- Experience conducting construction administration, including observation and inspection
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for specifications, technical reports, project discussions, client consultations, and interviews
- Ability to travel as requested for project assignments, up to 10%; occasional overnight travel may be required
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a driving record compliant with company requirements
- Candidates must reside within regular commuting distance of Duluth, MN or Bloomington, MN
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
- Professional registration in multiple states, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Plant 3D, boiler/chiller design, district heating and cooling, lab ventilation, or fire protection experience are advantageous
