About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the mechanical design effort for complex plant/building systems and site operations for heavy industrial sectors, including mining, mineral processing, aggregate, and metals
  • Design HVAC, plumbing, processing, and other mechanical systems for heavy industrial facilities and site operations
  • Prepare mechanical plans, specifications, design details, and construction documentation
  • Lead design teams for mechanical and multi-disciplined projects
  • Manage technical, quality, financial, and safety aspects from project conception through construction
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Group Manager, Market Managers, and Vice President of Mining on business development
  • Develop marketing plans and cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and client representatives
  • Track prospective opportunities and develop proposals
  • Deliver capabilities presentations
  • Mentor and develop less experienced team members
  • Work with engineering, architecture, and multidisciplinary professionals on projects throughout the country

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis
  • Structural Engineer in the State of Minnesota
  • 10 or more years of progressive experience designing heavy industrial structures, such as manufacturing and mining facilities
  • Proficiency with RISA 3D or Ram Structural System, MathCAD, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong working knowledge of structural steel, cast-in-place concrete, and precast concrete design
  • Experience with new construction, expansion, renovation, conversion, and adaptation/reinforcement projects
  • Experience conducting structural condition assessments of existing structures
  • Experience preparing plans and specifications for structural repairs
  • Ability to develop proposals, prepare technical reports, participate in or lead project team meetings, and deliver client presentations
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop less experienced professionals
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Flexibility to travel as needed, up to 30%, including occasional overnight travel
  • Professional registration in additional states is advantageous
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit is advantageous
  • Previous business development experience is advantageous
  • Previous experience or aspirations to manage multi-disciplined projects is advantageous
