About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work alongside structural engineering professionals
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural engineering teams
  • Deliver design services for complex plant/building systems and site operations in heavy industrial sectors, including mining, mineral processing, aggregate, and metals
  • Assist with drafting and design of mechanical system projects
  • Prepare drawings using design production software
  • Perform basic mechanical calculations
  • Complete redline revisions
  • Conduct site assessments and field verifications as needed
  • Perform construction observation tasks
  • Travel less than 10% to TKDA offices, project, or client locations; occasional overnight travel up to 15% may be required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate degree in Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field of study
  • Four or more years of progressive structural drafting and modeling experience
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit for construction documents, graphic presentations, and 3D renderings
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems, construction methods and practices, construction documentation, and construction plan interpretation
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical plans and models for project coordination
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills for project team discussions
  • Ability to travel for site assessments, field verifications, and construction observation tasks
  • Must reside within regular commuting distance of Duluth, MN or Bloomington, MN
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship needs
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu software is advantageous
  • Previous building survey and field verification experience is advantageous
  • Professional service or consulting experience is advantageous
  • Experience drafting and modeling structures in education, government, or industrial sectors is advantageous
