About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide item management support to ensure equipment availability and uninterrupted patrol boat operations
- Maintain stock levels of Coast Guard-peculiar items and support efficient utilization of appropriated funds
- Establish and procure new items in the supply system when required
- Prepare long-range forecasts of requirements, including five-year forecasts
- Manage Coast Guard mission-essential items across various Federal Supply Groups and classes
- Project short-term and long-term stock, store, issue, and repair quantities
- Study, analyze, review, manage, repair, or procure short-term items using computer-generated reports and other factors
- Manage long-term items using provisioning requirements, project programming, long-range requirements, new construction programs, operational requirements, extended deployments, and unanticipated field-unit requirements
- Manage restricted items based on criticality, usage, and other factors
- Develop procurement plans considering repair/procurement lead times and vendor performance
- Comply with procurement requirements and regulations, including submitting required statements
- Initiate disposal actions for Coast Guard-peculiar material reaching support expiration
- Review excess property lists for potential asset utilization
- Process material returns between government agencies for interagency logistics utilization
- Coordinate material support, including reviewing, assigning, and resolving Quality Deficiency Reports and Supply Deficiency Reports
- Monitor funds, analyze requirements, prepare funding estimates, and provide budget-justification data
Requirements
What you’ll need- Background check required
- US Citizenship required
- CAC required
- Ability to remain seated or stand at a workstation for 50% to 100% of a shift
- Continuous, low-force movement of the fingers, hands, and wrists to operate a keyboard, mouse, and phone
- Close-range vision to read documents and view computer monitors for extended periods
- Capability to lift, carry, or move lightweight items up to 10 pounds
- Ability to walk short distances inside the office
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least four (4) years of recent, relevant experience as an Item Manager with the USCG SFLC
- Proficient with SFLC computer applications, including NESSS, NE-TIMS, and FED LOG
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook
- Proficient with other software/tools provided on the Coast Guard Standard Workstation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
