About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as principal contractor technical advisor for the Joint Staff J7 Joint Technology & Simulation Division
  • Drive migration of J7 simulation, training, and modeling federations into Microsoft Azure under the JWCC contract vehicle
  • Architect and oversee enterprise cloud infrastructure within Azure Government (IL5) and Azure Government Secret (IL6)
  • Align cloud infrastructure with JWCC standards and DoD Cloud Computing SRG
  • Partner with Government Cloud Engineering Leads and Division System Architects
  • Establish cloud foundation services, landing zones, and transit hub-spoke models
  • Direct Infrastructure as Code standards across the technical team using Terraform, Azure Bicep, and ARM templates
  • Establish architectural blueprints for migrating on-premises JLVC training software into containerized AKS and virtualized cloud services
  • Enforce Zero Trust architectural principles across Azure networking, storage, identity, and compute boundaries
  • Work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Travel 0–10%

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Active Secret level DOW clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related technical field, plus 8+ years of progressive engineering experience, or Master’s degree with 6+ years
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and managing cloud infrastructure in Microsoft Azure
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Azure Government / DoD IL4–IL6
  • Proven proficiency authoring production-grade Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Azure Bicep, or ARM templates
  • Practical experience with Azure Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups, ExpressRoute/VPN gateways, and Azure Firewall
  • Current DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II or III baseline certification, such as Security+ CE, CASP+ CE, or CISSP
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Employment contingent upon successful completion of a comprehensive background check
  • Preferred: Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Preferred: Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or Azure Security Engineer Associate
  • Preferred: Direct experience designing or migrating workloads under the JWCC contract vehicle
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Joint Staff J7 training missions, JTE, or JLVC federation architectures
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience with Azure Kubernetes Service, container security scanning, and modern microservices architecture
  • Preferred: Experience working with cross-functional teams and government stakeholders
  • Preferred: Technical documentation, briefing, and reporting experience
