About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and ship web-based software products for Toro TMS's transportation management software platform for bulk commodity haulers
- Work as an entrepreneurial, product-minded Staff Software Engineer alongside experienced engineers
- Understand the trucking domain and users' problems
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product management and UX teams
- Build and ship features quickly, balancing quality and velocity
- Proactively identify and complete work aligned with team and business priorities
- Participate in team discussions, pair programming, and decision-making
- Support colleagues across engineering and other areas of the business
- Meet with customers to learn about their businesses and workflows
Requirements
What you’ll need- Familiarity with both Ruby on Rails and React
- Experience working in a remote-first environment
- 5+ years of experience building and shipping web-based software products
- Ability and desire to build fast and ship features on a daily / weekly basis
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to take direction and feedback from senior team members
- Strong desire to learn about the trucking industry, meet with customers, learn about their businesses and workflows
- Empathy for users and teammates
- Located in the United States
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
