About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Identify training requirements for internal and external customers related to the Caterpillar product line
  • Schedule, develop and present necessary training courses and seminars for customers and technicians
  • Travel to customer sites or branches as required
  • Support the continued development of Toromont’s and customers’ workforces
  • Ensure technical support staff are prepared to perform safe, efficient, professional and comprehensive repairs
  • Stay current with Cat machine technology through self-development and formal training
  • Communicate with Service Training Instructors, Apprenticeship Training Coordinator, Shop Supervisors, PSMs, sales personnel and customers to identify training needs
  • Schedule, utilize and maintain classrooms, training bays, tools, projectors and equipment
  • Perform administrative tasks, prepare evaluations and reports, and provide feedback to service leadership
  • Perform other duties delegated by the Service Training Supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • College diploma in Heavy Equipment, Truck and Coach or equivalent training and experience
  • Provincial Heavy Equipment Certification, Mechanics license or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing Caterpillar equipment
  • Preferably experience as lead hand, field service technician or other higher profile position
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Comprehensive computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and Caterpillar Service Software
  • Ability to travel to customer sites or branches as required
