About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Apply the risk assessment paradigm to evaluate potential human health risks associated with chemical exposures in foods, consumer products, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and environmental media
  • Review toxicological data
  • Perform literature reviews
  • Construct exposure assessments
  • Perform human health risk assessments to determine general and specific causation
  • Produce technical writing, including case summaries, reports, and scientific manuscripts
  • Deliver presentations and participate in teleconferences
  • Assist with statistical analysis, data cleaning and manipulation, environmental modeling, and exposure and risk calculations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including toxicologists, epidemiologists, industrial hygienists, engineers, and biostatisticians
  • Participate in professional meetings, committees, and scientific publishing

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s degree in toxicology, environmental science, or a related science degree (e.g., industrial hygiene, environmental health, public health)
  • 0–2 years of experience in exposure and human health risk assessment
  • Prior consulting experience is a major plus
  • Academic coursework covering chemistry, toxicology, environmental health, risk assessment, exposure assessment, statistics, and chemical fate and transport mechanisms
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments with attention to detail and effective time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Excel or R knowledge and ability to perform statistical analysis
  • Ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience leading project tasks or teams is a plus
  • Ability to travel approximately 5%–10% of the time may be required
