About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Act as a business partner to CEOs at portfolio companies
Analyze accounting processes, identify issues, research solutions, and improve workflows
Review and prepare journal entries and ledger accounts according to US GAAP
Prepare balance sheets, income statements, cash flows, and support external auditors and professionals
Implement standardized monthly financial reporting packages and integrate client GL/reporting systems
Clean up historical financials to align with quality of earnings analysis
Convert clients from cash-basis accounting to accrual/GAAP
Prepare opening balance sheets and post-closing working capital true-ups for acquisitions
Implement annual planning and budgeting processes
Prepare and maintain rolling 13-week cash flow forecasts and reconcile Adjusted EBITDA versus FCF
Transition banking and cash management to regional and national platforms
Review and model loan covenants and produce quarterly lender reporting packages
Develop month-end closing checklists and move clients from perpetual to 10-day close
Evaluate accounting systems and recommend enhancements or changes
Develop online and offline systems to improve accounting process efficiency
Collaborate with client project teams on operational systems implementations and accounting integration
Perform and assist with inventory assessments and valuation
Develop and maintain internal control programs
Prepare monthly billing support schedules for portfolio clients
Submit regular reports and communications to leadership on portfolio client status

Requirements

What you’ll need

15+ years of progressive experience within a broad range of accounting and finance environments, including private equity
Hands-on experience converting a business from cash-basis accounting to accrual/GAAP accounting
Hands-on experience implementing and/or integrating GL systems and processes
Experience building and maintaining 3-statement financial consolidation models
High-level competency in Microsoft tools
Strong experience with Excel, including advanced database/financial functions and formula-building
Experience with multiple GL systems including QuickBooks and cloud-based ERP/GL systems such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, and Dynamics
Experience working with external auditors
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including email and PowerPoint presentations
Comfortable with some travel as needed to portfolio companies
Clear understanding of timelines and deliverables
Ability to communicate patiently and effectively with a broad range of personality types and competency levels
Confident self-starter with a friendly and humble personality
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
CPA/MAcc and MBA a plus
