About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the strategic and technical lead on complex building restoration, building envelope, and property assessment projects
- Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of building science projects, including condition assessments, building envelope investigations, and rehabilitation programs
- Provide expert guidance on building performance, durability, and compliance
- Mentor junior team members and foster technical excellence
- Work with project managers and project coordinators to deliver assigned projects
- Provide technical leadership in building envelope design, restoration strategies, and construction review
- Conduct and oversee technical assessments, investigations, and reporting
- Develop and improve project management processes and procedures
- Lead and coordinate site inspectors and facilitate communication with project managers
- Manage and review project deliverables
- Manage and delegate construction administration tasks, including shop drawing reviews and contract document setup
- Ensure construction administration tasks are accurate, timely, and within budget
- Facilitate communication between project management and design teams
- Respond to client queries regarding technical and financial project aspects
- Prepare and monitor project task schedules, hours, and critical performance data
- Organize and chair internal and client meetings
- Complete project management, construction administration, project oversight, and other assigned tasks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering or Post-Secondary Education in Engineering or Architectural Technology
- Minimum of 8-10 years of related experience as a consultant in building science
- P.Eng. designation is preferred, but experienced practitioners with other professional designations will be considered
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation skills
- Excellent multi-tasking skills and adaptability to shifting priorities
- Strong organizational skills
- A team player approach to problem solving
- Valid class G driver’s license
