About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own quarterly and annual income tax provision under ASC 740, including current and deferred taxes, valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions, return-to-provision, and effective tax rate analysis and forecasting
  • Prepare tax disclosures for financial statements and lender reporting
  • Serve as primary tax contact for external auditors
  • Maintain tax account reconciliations, provision-to-return true-ups, and audit-ready documentation
  • Build and maintain tax controls and process documentation
  • Own global tax compliance calendar across U.S. federal, state and local, and international jurisdictions
  • Manage external tax advisors, including scope, deliverables, fees, and deadlines
  • Manage tax audits, notices, and inquiries through resolution
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and assess company impact
  • Own global transfer pricing framework, including policy design, documentation, local files, and country-by-country reporting
  • Calculate, book, and monitor intercompany charges and true-ups
  • Advise on international structure and cross-border flows, including entity rationalization, cash repatriation, withholding taxes, treaty positions, and permanent establishment risk
  • Model and manage U.S. international tax positions including GILTI, FDII, BEAT, Subpart F, and foreign tax credits
  • Lead tax work on M&A transactions from diligence through integration
  • Partner with Accounting on acquisition accounting for tax and acquired-entity integration
  • Develop and execute tax planning, including cash tax optimization, credits and incentives, R&D credits, entity structure, and post-acquisition integration
  • Support executives and sponsor stakeholders with tax modeling and transaction analysis
  • Own global indirect tax, including U.S. sales and use tax, VAT/GST, and digital services taxes
  • Determine taxability and nexus for a multi-jurisdiction SaaS and data business
  • Own tax engine and system configuration, such as Avalara, with NetSuite invoicing
  • Manage exemption certificates, customer tax inquiries, voluntary disclosure agreements, and historical exposure remediation
  • Manage and develop one direct report
  • Partner with Legal, FP&A, Accounting, Revenue Operations, People, and business teams
  • Translate complex tax positions into decision-ready recommendations for senior leadership and sponsor stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • CPA and/or advanced tax degree required
  • 15+ years of progressive corporate tax experience, including meaningful time in a multinational in-house tax function
  • Strong blend of public accounting and industry experience
  • Deep, hands-on ASC 740 expertise
  • Demonstrated ownership of transfer pricing and U.S. international tax in a multi-entity global structure
  • Practical experience with indirect tax for software or SaaS, including nexus, taxability, and multi-jurisdiction compliance
  • Hands-on M&A tax experience across diligence, structuring, and integration
  • Proven success managing external advisors and co-sourced compliance
  • Big 4 or large regional firm foundation preferred
  • Experience in a technology, SaaS, or financial technology company desirable
  • Private equity or sponsor-backed environment experience desirable
  • Experience with NetSuite, Avalara or similar tax engine, and tax provision software desirable
  • Exposure to EMEA and APAC compliance regimes and multi-currency consolidations desirable
  • Familiarity with SOX or SOX-adjacent internal controls frameworks desirable
  • Excellent communication, organization, proactive judgment, and comfort operating in ambiguity desirable
